A Letter to Yolo Audubon Supporters

Dear Friend of Yolo Audubon,

As we get ready to start the 2019-20 season of programs, field trips, and other special activities, I’d like to encourage you to make a donation of $10, $25 or more to Yolo Audubon.

We recently held a retreat for the board of directors, and we’ve made plans for a great upcoming year. Supporters like you allow us to do important work for avian conservation. Our small grants program to assist students and non-profits is underway. With substantial help from Judy and John Whitcombe, we’ve updated the Checklist of the Birds of Yolo County, and it will soon be available to purchase from the website or at monthly meetings.

Donations allow us to fund projects for Audubon California’s Bobcat Ranch in Winters. This year we bought gravel for the entrance road—not sexy but essential! Our phenology work at Bobcat continues. Twice a month we survey birds and are building a substantial record of avian information. We also support the Central Valley Birding Symposium in Stockton every November. Less exciting but necessary, donations help to cover our continuing operating expenses, such as insurance, room rental for our meetings, web hosting and speaker honorariums.

New activities for the upcoming year include more field trips for birders of all levels and plans to hold a birding “big day” in the spring.

You may donate through our website or send a check to Yolo Audubon Society, P.O. Box 886, Davis, CA 95617. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you at a Yolo Audubon activity soon. A copy of The Burrowing Owl, our monthly e-newsletter, will arrive in your inbox in early September with more details, including information on our fall field trips and our guest speakers for the upcoming monthly meetings.

If you have any questions about making a contribution, please contact Ian Taylor, our membership chair, at ianttaylor@yahoo.com.

Gratefully,

Ann Brice, President, on behalf of the Yolo Audubon Board of Directors
