From the President: February 2020

Just a reminder that California Duck Days is coming up on February 22nd at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area Headquarters in Davis.  The event includes workshops, field trips, many on-site kids’ activities, and an exhibition hall. Go to the Yolo Basin Foundation website to learn more.

Duck Days is a great community event, and Yolo Audubon members will be leading many of the field trips.  Also, consider attending the Duck Days Welcome Reception at the Davis Art Center this Friday evening, February 7th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

I want to thank Steve Hampton for another great Christmas Bird Count (CBC) in December.  A recap of the day is at the end of the CBC page on this website.  He is also the author of the recently published paper in Central Valley Birds, Vol. 22 No. 4, 2019 entitled “Avian Responses to Rapid Climate Change on the Putah Creek CBC.”  Steve says the results of the 2019 count further support the trends he reported in Central Valley Birds.

Hope to see you out birding!
