From the President: November 2021

Big news!  Off-highway vehicles were unanimously banned on Cache Creek at the Yolo County Board of Supervisors meeting on October 26th.  This was due in no small part to the persistence of Yolo Audubon board member Rick Williams and Cache Creek Conservancy president Jim Barrett in keeping the issue in front of the county.  Habitat in the lower part of the creek has been destroyed by off-road vehicles.  Please thank your supervisors for taking action!

It’s not too early to start thinking about the Christmas Bird Count, which will be held on Sunday, December 19th.  Bart Wickel is the organizer this year, and Emmett Iverson will be in charge of the ID Workshop, which is on Wednesday, December 8th via Zoom.  The compilation meeting will be held on Zoom at 7pm on December 19th.  Learn more about the CBC and how to sign up with one of the area leaders here.  The information for the virtual CBC meetings will be available soon.

Just a quick reminder:  Don’t forget to support Yolo Audubon with an annual donation of $10 or more, and thank you to those who have  already done so!

Good birding!
