Fall is here, and it’s already time to think about the 52nd Christmas Bird Count (CBC) on December 18th! Bart Wickel will be leading the count again, and he has assembled the 10 area leaders. Take a look at the CBC page on the website to see who is in charge of each area and contact them to learn more and sign up. Everyone is welcome, but some areas will fill up quickly, so don’t wait too long.
The December monthly meeting, where you’ll receive more information about each area on the count and learn about some tricky bird I.D.’s, is being held on December 14th. This is only a few days before the actual count, so do your best to sign up before then. Registration information for the December 14th meeting and the post-CBC compilation meeting on the 18th will be posted soon on our website, Facebook page and the next newsletter.
On other matters, I have two favors to ask. First, we are always looking for volunteers who might want to help Yolo Audubon occasionally, but not on a regular basis. For instance, we sometimes need volunteers to sit at a table and talk with people at conservation events. We would like to develop a list of potential short-term helpers whom we might call on a few times a year. Second, I would like to have more images of Burrowing Owls for the top of the newsletter. It’s fun to feature the work of different photographers. If you’re interested in learning more about either of these requests, please contact me here.
Thanks and good birding! !
