From the President: September 2019

Welcome back to Yolo Audubon for the 2019-20 season. I hope everyone had a great summer and saw some good birds.

The highlight of my summer was photographing a wonderful variety of species in British Columbia. Here’s a picture of me with Yolo Audubon friends JoAnne Fillatti and Lynda Goff and others getting a close view of displaying Ruddy Ducks.

The whole board would like to thank Ken Ealy for doing a great job of shepherding Yolo Audubon for the last four years. We’re delighted that Ken is now vice-president in charge of our monthly meeting speakers, so you’ll still get to hear from him at every meeting!

At the September board meeting we’ll be selecting our first recipient(s) of the new Yolo Audubon Small Grants Program, which was set up to support students and non-profits making contributions to avian conservation in Yolo County. We’re very excited to initiate the program.

Finally, I’d like to thank all of you who responded to our annual appeal letter. We’ll keep you updated throughout the year on how we use the money. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider doing so by going to the Support YAS page on the website and making a contribution.

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you at meetings and on field trips in the upcoming months.

–Ann Brice, President
