Check out the YOLO Bird Alliance beginner birding kit from any of the seven Yolo County library branches. (Woodland library has a similar kit).

Each kit is contained in a backpack and includes a pair of binoculars for small hands and a second pair for teens or adults. Also, the backpacks contain a flip guide, highlighting the common birds of Yolo County in English and Spanish , a bird book, a list of phone apps that you can use to help identify birds by sound or sight. We have included a Yolo county checklist of the birds found here as well as a list of popular places to go birding. Check out a kit and spend some fun time finding local birds. Always feel free to join us on a beginner YBA field trip.

Beginner bird outings occur most months (weather permitting). You do not need to sign up, just meet at the place and time listed on the website under Events, other YBA social media (Facebook, Instagram) and the Davis Enterprise. Have fun
