For winter birds of the coast–Bodega Bay, Harbor and Head, and Doran Beach offer ducks, grebes, loons, gulls and shorebirds in one compact area. Winter plumages offer interesting identification challenges. Good bird photo opportunities around the harbor. Weather can be surprisingly good in winter, but be prepared for cold and wet with layers, hat and gloves–easy walks. Only a major rainstorm will cancel the trip.
